Peter's life with his new partner Beth (played by Vanessa Kirby) is disrupted by the arrival of his ex-wife Kate (played by Laura Dern) and their son Nicholas (played by Zane McClaren). Peter struggles to take care of Nicholas, who is deeply depressed, while also juggling his work and new family.
