"Philip Raven is a hitman who is surprisingly gentle towards children and cats. He is hired to murder a blackmailer and is paid off in tainted money by the treacherous Willard Gates. At the same time, Ellen Graham, a vivacious performer and the girlfriend of police Lieutenant Crane (who is hunting Raven down), is asked by a Senate committee to assist in their investigation of Gates.
